Dating like a Vamp

What is it that has attracted us to Vampires over the years? These books, movies and television shows have a certain part of the population just enthralled at the idea of having vampires around.

Vampires in movies have come a long way from the Boris Karloff-looking freak with wings we saw in earlier movies. In movies today, they are romanticized and carry voracious sexual appetites.

Just take a look at the images that are popular with this genre today. We have HBO’s “True Blood” and the movie ”Twilight”. Hell, we even had Buffy a few years ago and before that I think a lot of us remember “The Lost Boys.”  I remember when “The Lost Boys” came out, it seemed everybody ran out and bought motorcycle jackets.

The word Vamp, which sometimes used to be short for vampire, also has a definition to be a woman who, while not necessarily attractive, has a certain allure (usually this striking, exotic, overtly sexy glamour), and is usually a heartless, man-eating seductress.

It seems that the women who write many of these books projected into these characters what they felt the men in their life were lacking. These stories are full of dark mysterious characters that are deep with emotion and romance. They are able to seem sophisticated and because they are immortal, they are wise beyond their years but always maintain their youthful sex appeal.

Men are attracted to these characters as well. There is definitely a rebel “I’m not going to answer to anybody” mentality going on. Let’s also not forget the Svengali like control over women some of these stories contain.

Although it is just fantasy and role-playing that most of us are interested in, what sort of characteristics could we bring into our own life to make us more attractive?

1.    They are always leading – Whether or not they are leading anyone else, they are always leading themselves. Time to get your act together and figure out what you want to do with your life instead of drifting aimlessly.

2.    They are up at night – Because they sleep during the day, they understand the nightlife, they know the good places to get a beer. Get yourself out there and discover your town, There are lots of great places to visit; you just have to put yourself out there and find them.

3.    They communicate well – Because they are immortal, they have had years and years of practice. They know how to communicate with members of the opposite sex. They are able to tap into what allows us to connect with each other, like emotions and passions. Get yourself comfortable about how you feel. Let people know you can be deep. 4.    They have fashion sense – They always seem to dress with an edge. Put yourself into some new threads that will give you the upper hand in meeting women. The clothes that you will find at a generic store will make you look and feel generic. I am not saying to go out and find yourself some fuzzy pants, but I am saying to get some form fitting clothes that say something about your personality.

5.    They have the sex part down – Vampires have been associated with a seductive presence and demeanor. Bring a little swagger into your step and get comfortable with your wants and needs as the human animal.

6.    Become a bit elusive – Vampires are not to be had easily and it adds a bit of the forbidden fruit aspect to their appeal. Try making yourself not so available. People generally want what they can’t have and value things they have to earn. Make yourself a bit more aloof find some things to do rather than waiting by the phone.

These are some things you can do to attract a little more attention in your life. Maybe it is time you came out of your coffin.
