New lows in Entertainment

It blows my mind what is passing for television shows right now on some of these networks. VH1 has got to be in the lead with trash TV. With shows like Charm School, Rock of love bus, I Love Money and Chance of Love and an audience of teenagers figuring out what life is all about. How can they not  have a warped sense of reality.

As easy as it is to get sucked into this trash myself I am an adult and can realize how terrible these people are. I also know that most of this is scripted and edited to look a certain way as well as knowing the more outrageous these people are the more they are rewarded with other trash television ventures. There are reality show celebrities that have become household names. They have also figured out that these shows can boost them to have a decent shot in other ventures such as serious acting and music.

So as of lately we have had the “Rock of Love Bus” where women competed for the right to get close to a has been Brett Michaels. The thing about this show is that the girls are obviously there for the publicity. It is pretty amusing to see these girls attempt to out-slut the other girls. When these girls have finally crossed the line where another girl will not go then that usually results in a physical altercation. The message they are sending  is “If you are not about to get rid of your dignity you can at least smack a bitch” Pretty entertaining if you ask me.

A lot of these women also have children and I often wonder the effect of these shows will have on them as well. It definitely seems a lot of these people are heavily damaged and through these shows I do not think they are being helped. Charm School is supposed to be helping these women change their lives for the better (are you kidding me) but all I see them do is fight and get drunk with all the booze they are provided by the show.

I am not saying this trash should be taken off the air. I believe in freedom in all arts, but we as a society should not be amazed that our kids are sending nude pictures of them selves over their phones and that they are dressing the way they are. It is up to the families to educate and instill ethics; value and self-esteem into these children so that they are able to make clear judgments on their behavior. I hope these kids understand these shows are designed for pure and simple shock value for ratings rather than what a majority of their peers are doing.

Seeing these people celebrated and rewarded for this lewd and unsavory behavior is what is troubling for a 13-year-old child that is coming to terms with their own existence. Children need to look harder for positive role models than ever before. They are not at the surface of our culture like they have been in the past. They have been buried because they are perceived as boring and safe. We all want a little danger in our lives, but as an educated adult, I can make those decisions and understand them.

If you have found yourself in one of these scenarios where every person in the room around you would throw their own mother under a bus for a few bucks what would be the outcome of your actions? Think about it. You have the worst of the worst in a competition with you for $100,000 the show is nine weeks long. It is either kill or be killed. Just how much would your conscious allow you to get away with? These people are professional players. Just look at some of the skill in which Anne Duke went after Joan Rivers in Celebrity Apprentice.

I personally like some of this crap tv it is pretty amusing to see what some of these people are capable of in terms of conscious. I just hope our youth are able to see past it for what it really is.
